Hotel ShangHigh’s ‘high-energy, performance dining’ concept brings diners comfort-oriented, ‘Retro Chinese’ cuisine, which will give patrons a taste of original Chinese restaurants from old-world Shanghai. What’s more, every evening, diners will enjoy performances by some of the world’s top performers, interspersed between their meals.
Diners who visit Hotel ShangHigh will be welcomed by a design aesthetic which marries the glamour of old-school Chinese theatres with a new-age pop Shanghai vibe. A colour palette of reds, maroons, pinks and golds dominates, and some of the walls boast hand-painted, Chinese-inspired imagery. The ceiling features 120 lanterns in different colours, materials and sizes, complete with colour-changing lights, controlled by the music. Specially for the live performances, a stage and a runway, which makes its way into the dining area of the restaurant, has been created. A 20-foot long, two-faced dragon, hand-painted by artisans and mounted on the ceiling, serves as a central focal point.
The extensive menu offers delicious yet straightforward Chinese food that is devoid of gimmicks and is presented at competitive price points. A limited-edition cocktail menu offers a tightly-edited selection of just six signature cocktails that will change every month.
